Description
The 12th annual 2013 Al Sears Jazz Festival will be held September 20th through September 22nd. The Al Sears Jazz festival is the longest running grass roots supported free jazz festival in the Midwest.
Performers
Friday, September 20th from 4:00 to 5:00 PM when the Western Illinois Museum hosts “The Life of Al Sears” with special guests the Jazz Voices of Macomb High School followed by live jazz from 5:00 to 11:00 PM at Shiloh’s Bar & Bistro, 2 West Side Square with Michael Kennedy Jr. Trio from 5 to 8 pm and music headliner The Sally Weisenberg Trio from 8 to 11 pm. Saturday, September 20th in Chandler Park downtown Macomb will come to life with jazz from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM when the Al Sear Jazz Festival welcomes Four Other Brothers, Paulinho Gracia & Grazyna Auguscik, the St. Louis Stompers and the Western Illinois University Jazz Studio Orchestra with special Guest Pharaz Whitted. While you enjoy the jazz in the park stroll among the many artists who will be displaying and selling their goods as part of the Gazebo Art Festival or purchase books from the public library book sale. Both the Al Sears Jazz Festival and the Gazebo Arts Festival are free to attend, with food and drink available for purchase in the park. Following the Chandler Park performances, the Bria Skonberg Quintet performs at 7:30 pm during the BCA Jazz Concert in COFAC Recital Hall on the Western Illinois University campus (Tickets are available at WIU Box Office: (309)-298-2900). Sunday, September 22nd , a jazz brunch will be held at Shiloh’s Bar & Bistro with a performance by the St. Louis Stompers there will be two seatings are offered and reservations can be made by calling (309) 833-JAZZ (5299).
